Hard Agates was founded to create and offer exquisitely polished rare agate specimens and related lapidary materials. We are dedicated to the quality and authenticity of our products and aim to build strong relationships with our clients and peers. We support the lapidary community by sharing knowledge and promoting the use of ethically sourced banded agates.
If you are interested in a particular specimen, please contact us and we'll be happy to provide additional photos and videos and discuss any available discounts or payment options. Every agate offered is on a first-come, first-served basis and these cannot be replaced. What you see here are some of the finest agates in the world, and often the source is either no longer producing agates or is inaccessible.
HardAgates emerged from a childhood fascination with rock collecting and evolved to the mastery of gemstone cutting. Taking the lapidary arts to the next level with rare and unique agates, such as the Laguna Agate, is a natural extension of our passion and profound appreciation for Earth's geological marvels. We are dedicated to the precision cutting and polishing of banded agate specimens, cabochons, and mineral treasures for all to enjoy.
The name HardAgates is a play on words, as exceptional agate specimens are valuable tangible "hard" assets with no shelf life. For example, the Laguna Agate is a "young" agate at just 38M years. These agates will likely outlast all future generations. Not many other collectibles can offer this generational value.
Our Shop Catalog features some of the finest, rarest, and unique banded agate specimens offered anywhere. Many of these fine agates are cut and polished right here in Massachusetts, with materials, either rough or cut agates, often sourced directly from the miners and country of origin. These agates are all natural and undyed.
We, too, are collectors, and as our collection evolves, we occasionally release more fine specimen agates. Please find our agates on offer in the Shop.
In our "Museum Collection" below, you will find additional amazing and unique specimens. This collection serves as a price and quality reference catalog for us. We also utilize these agates for discussion and debate to guide the understanding of agate formation and for photography and digital artworks. These agates are NFS, however, the collection is always changing and these agates may find new shelves with our customers.
Coyamito Agate Pair 9.3cm. Rancho Coyamito, Chihuahua, Mexico.
We would love to 'talk rocks' and especially about natural banded agates. Ask for Eric, your agate expert. He will send images or videos to help you make an informed purchase.
